Pairing collectivity in medium - mass neutron - rich nuclei near drip - line ∗
The pair correlation is known to play central roles in characterizing various structure aspects of nuclei[ 1]. As far as nuclei near the stability line are concerned, the energy scale of the correlation, the pair gap ∆ ∼ 1 − 2 MeV, is much smaller than the other fundamental energy scales, the Fermi energy eF ∼ 40 MeV, the shell gap ∼ several MeV and the nucleon separation energy ∼ 8 MeV. This s...
متن کاملShape and shell-structure of nuclei towards neutron drip line
In nuclei along the β stability line the nucleons are bound at least by 7–10MeV, and the magic numbers in those nuclei are well known as N (or Z) = 8, 20, 28, 50, 82, and 126. In contrast, in nuclei away from the β stability line the presence of nucleons with binding energy much smaller than 8MeV leads to a unique shell-structure. Consequently, magic numbers may be changed and the nuclei, which...
متن کاملSub-barrier Fusion of Drip-line Nuclei
We discuss the role of break-up process of a loosely-bound projectile in subbarrier fusion reactions. Coupled-channels calculations are carried out for Be + Pb and 4,6He + U reactions by discretizing in energy the particle continuum states. Our calculations show that the coupling to the break-up channel has two effects, namely the loss of flux and the dynamical modulation of fusion potential. T...
متن کامل1 Nuclei beyond the drip line
In a Thomas-Fermi model, calculations are presented for nuclei beyond the nuclear drip line at zero temperature. These nuclei are in equilibrium by the presence of an external gas, as may be envisaged in the astrophysical scenario. We find that there is a limiting asymmetry beyond which these nuclei can no longer be made stable.
متن کاملProton-rich Nuclei at and beyond the Proton Drip Line in the Relativistic Mean Field Theory
Ground state properties of proton-rich odd-Z nuclei in the region 55 ≤ Z ≤ 73 are studied in the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory. The RMF equations are solved by using the expansion method in the Harmonic-Oscillator basis. In the particle-particle channel, we use the state-dependent BCS method with a zero-range δ-force, which has been proved to be effective even for neutron-rich nuclei. Al...
